Ms. Valentine's 8th grade Advisory class participated in the Project Proposal Competition for the EmpowHer Institute, a program designed to empower, uplift, and inspire teen girls in Los Angeles. Ms. Valentine's students presentation was entitled "Self Harming: A Growing Issue for America's Youth." During the presentation they spoke about the history of self-harming, risk factors, statistics, interventions, social action steps, and the research process. They created a digital guidebook designed to help teens who self-harm. The guidebook is called "You Are Not Alone: A Guidebook Created by Teens for Teens Who Self-Harm and the People Who Love Them." We are extremely proud of these girls for not only winning FIRST PLACE in the competition but being dedicated and committed to the EmpowHer program.
